Sustainability at The Sebel Twin Towns

Here at the Sebel Twin Towns, we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

Dry Amenities

We are proud to share our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this initiative, we have removed single-use dry amenities and taken a bold step towards a plastic-free environment. We understand the importance of preserving our planet for future generations. Therefore, we have significantly reduced our environmental impact by eliminating single-use plastic amenities. Guests can request dry amenities by calling or visiting our friendly team at reception. Other initiatives include:

  • Bamboo room key cards
  • Bamboo pens
  • Removal of printed compendiums and replaced with online accessible version
  • environmentally-friendly pillows made from recycled materials

Bathroom Amenities

As part of our ongoing efforts, we have proactively switched to large format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers throughout the hotel. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we significantly reduce the waste generated by our operations. This commitment aligns with our dedication to environmental stewardship and reflects our ongoing efforts to improve sustainability in all aspects of our hotel. With a mindful focus on water and energy conversation within the building, for both guests and staff, we have implemented initiatives including;

  • Guests are encouraged to re-use towels, with replacements upon request
  • Installation of eco-friendly water supply in shower and toilet facilities
  • Eco-friendly cleaning supplies utilised by our Housekeeping team

Food Waste

At The Sebel Twin Towns, we are devoted to reducing food wastage and promoting sustainable practices in our services and amenities to our guests and members. We understand the importance of minimizing our environmental impact while delivering exceptional experiences to our guests.

  • We work with our suppliers to ensure that where possible all amenities are sourced from local producers to reduce our carbon footprint - support our local businesses in the process
  • All amenities are ordered on as ‘as needed’ basis to reduce wastage and ensure we are supplying our members with the freshest products
  • Our range of amenities is rotated on a regular basis, ensuring our offerings remain unique whilst aligning with what our suppliers are able to source from local producers

Recycling

At The Sebel Twin Towns, all hotel waste is separated into co-mingle, cardboard, food, and general waste, minimizing our impact on landfills. In addition, we have taken several steps to reduce water usage and embraced a circular system.

Working in collaboration with our body corporate representatives, we have implemented a recycling program, with proceeds going directly back into the community.

We are aware of the carbon footprint associated with the delivery of crucial stock items, and wherever possible, we work with nearby businesses to facilitate a shared delivery time.

Community Support

At The Sebel Twin Towns, we value and support our local businesses and the individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Supporting local businesses is the key to what we do at the property, and we are proud to represent our local community and share these partnerships with our guests.

Our work with local charities provides support to the community, in particular, raffles to raise well-needed funds for natural disasters such as the recent floods and fires. As a business, Accor is a strong representative for indigenous rights and supports the traditional custodians of the land where we operate.
