Experiences
Halfway between Melbourne and Sydney, on the picturesque Murrumbidgee River, Wagga Wagga is a laid-back country NSW city, popular with bushwalkers, and nature lovers. As the major regional centre of the Riverina area and the largest inland city in NSW, Wagga Wagga is an important military, agricultural and transport hub.
Well-known for producing a disproportionately high number of great Australian sportsmen and women, Wagga Wagga has a Sporting Hall of Fame (part of the Museum of the Riverina), dedicated to the elite athletes from the area. Wagga Wagga also has strong arts and literary connections, and the city's Civic Centre on the banks of the Wollundry Lagoon, features several art galleries and museums showcasing the regions culture.
If you're visiting during the summer months, the river provides lots of fun and entertainment for all the family, with lots of picnic spots located along its banks, and swimming areas to cool off in.
