Experiences
A shining example of Canberra’s inner city rejuvenation, the new Mantra MacArthur Hotel is ideally located only 5 minutes by car from the city centre, in the leafy inner suburb of Turner. Wide roads and nature strips add to the area’s arboreal appeal, particularly in spring and autumn. Neighbouring suburb O’Conner’s shopping area is close and the Australian National University, Australian War Memorial and the Braddon dining precinct are also within walking distance.
If you prefer a hike to a walk, head up to the nearby Mt Ainslie Lookout, with its commanding views over the planned capital and plentiful wildlife. Or for a more sedate escape from the city, you can also stroll to and through Canberra’s magnificent Botanic Gardens, with the most complete collection of Australian fauna in the country, including the Red Centre Garden and even its own patch of rainforest!
